MARTYYNA is a Prague born & based producer and DJ, she's also a co-founder of a regular KSK club night and a member of a DJ collective Blazing Bullets.

She already released tracks on Eco Futurism Corporation, Unizone or BCAA system labels and made remixes for jjjacob (ANBA) or Ethno Service (Unizone). Beside the original work with sounds of traditional string instruments like guzheng or erhu, she newly added her own vocals to the production where it slowly takes a leading part in the process. AWAKEN is her debut EP.

Her musical approach is largely experimental and works with honestly admitted chaos, positively welcomed coincidence and deconstruction of traditional asian instruments. This strategy is rooted both in her everyday life and the professional one - her second home is Taiwan and asian regions in general, where she researches into a so called illegal and informal architecture. This brings interesting tension to her creative output: working as an architect in her daily life, where order is the rule and emotions have to go aside, and on the opposite of that a strong interest in re-deconstruction and breathing organic structures where life emerges freely upon any given restraints.

First track – urgent sounding Thorn of Joy is about realizing that painful things and events in your life can bring you an eye-opening awareness and new insights not just about the world itself but mainly about yourself. That is also the main theme of the whole release named after the leading track Awaken. It speaks for itself – overcoming the pain and waking up to consciousness thanks to uneasy life situations, sorrow or toxic relationships. It is also about cracking that visible hard shell, opening up and letting vulnerability and emotions come out without apology. And about cutting the bullshit as well. Tracks Moth Sabbath and Midnight Guards combine powerful anime-like atmospheres and inventive work with arythmical percussive arrangements while the closing track Tongue Untied speaks its fragile yet powerful truth with the lyrics: “I don't know why it's just about u, I am here, I am here too...”.

When you allow yourself to live your truth and also speak it without fear, then comes the liberating awareness that what doesn't kill you will actually make you stronger.
